This past week my youngest boy, my sister and I were at Target. There on the shelf was a ShamWow shammie.
My youngest was beside himself. He grabbed one off the shelf, spun around and exclaimed: “I don’t know what I’m going to do with it but I want it!”
This is a 12 year old who has no real need for a shammie but, based on the television advertising, he wants one.
THIS is the kind of desire you want to engender in your readers. This is the kind of emotion they should be feeling.
We all make decisions on emotions but justify on features of the product. Learning at least basic copy writing skills will only help to increase conversion rates and, therefore, the bottom line. While becoming a master copywriter isn’t necessary it is exceedingly important to learn the basics.
