Random Thoughts: False Assumptions
My oldest daughter was on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic for 10 days. While she was gone the church had organized a phone chain – a list of people who call each other with news.
So on the fourth day of the trip the leader called the church to say that everything was going well, and a few other details.
An interesting thing happened on my two calls (when I was called and when I called the next person). During both calls the parents stayed on the phone far longer than was necessary to get the small amount of information being passed along.
It was as if by staying on the phone with other parents, whose children were far from home, we had a connection with our children. Almost like we could talk about their activities and they would be home within hours.
Sometimes we can convince ourselves of things that aren’t true. In personal life or business – it’s always best to face reality. Living under a false assumption changes the future – but in a negative way.
Athough . . . I have been imagining she’s just upstairs in her room, studying, the whole time she’s been gone.
